The Industrious Spirit Company out of Rhode Island recently announced the release of their first-ever bourbon, BlueVelvet Bourbon. The new release is created from a blend of two very unique and distinct blue corns— an organic strain of indigo developed in Kentucky, and a landrace blue variety from Oaxaca, Mexico. After being cooked and fermented, the bourbon is carefully distilled in small batches before resting it in charred new oak barrels for six to twelve months “to taste,” ensuring the corns’ flavors remain adamant.
