Weather forecast: Intense rainfall in Northeast next 5 days; alert for Assam, Meghalaya

Our Reporter Dimapur, June 6 (EMN): An intense spell of rainfall is likely to continue over the Northeast India and Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days, alerted the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday. The IMD reported that due to the influence of strong south westerly winds from Bay of Bengal to Northeast India in lower tropospheric levels, widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, as well as Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next five days. The department updated that on June 7 and 8, districts namely Mon, Longleng, Tuensang, Kohima and Peren are likely to experience widespread rainfall, while Mokokchung, Kiphire, Phek and Dimapur may experience fairly widespread rainfall and scattered rainfall likely in Zunheboto and Wokha.
