The Affordable Housing Streamlining Ordinance passed 5-1, but not without concern expressed over whether new projects will push vulnerable tenants out of their units without the right to return.
The ordinance would define 100% affordable housing projects, establish criteria to qualify for streamlining benefits, help identify other incentive programs projects may qualify for, outline limitations on waivers and incentives and set performance standards.
The Planning Commission is expected to vote Thursday on a proposal to expedite approval and construction of affordable housing projects in the city.
