The Khartoum Ministry of Health announced that it is monitoring 12 COVID-19 cases from India. The federal Health Ministry reported 37 new COVID-19 deaths and 428 new cases of infection within the period from May 2 to May 8.
According to the epidemiological report issued by the Ministry of Health, the cumulative number of COVID-19 infections since March last year increased to 32,272 cases, 2,446 deaths, and 27,949 recoveries.
The director of the Health Ministry s General Administration explained last month that the statistics issued regularly do not cover all cases. She explained that a comprehensive vaccination campaign is the only way for Sudan to curb the pandemic.
The Sudanese Federal Ministry of Health reported 28 new cases of COVID-19, five deaths and 51 recoveries on Sunday. The latest official report recorded new cases in five of the country’s 18 states. Khartoum recorded the highest infection rate, followed by Red Sea state, El Gezira state, and Kassala, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 to 28,137, including 1,871 deaths and 22,797 recovery.
