Alongside 11 of the district’s best spellers, the eighth-grader navigated six rounds of words and nerves in front of a crowd of attendees congregated in Bemidji Middle School Tuesday night.
For its 37th year of running, Tverstol along with 12 other student spellers competed in a total of 13 rounds involving words like “evaded,” “embrace” and “excited.”
Though soft-spoken and masked, eighth-grader Jack Borgen spelled his way to victory at Thursday night’s Spelltacular at Bemidji Middle School like a “professional,” which just so happened to be his winning word.
