Town resident and director of performing arts is organising the Mad Hatters theatre acting and improv workshops (online) for children between the ages of eight and 12 years of age from May 24 to May 29.
improv is the art of creating something out of nothing, says Saple and at the workshops you will learn to create sketches with an idea that has been given to you. Most acting workshops guide you with a script … but in improv you are “thrown into the deep end and have to survive,” says Saple. “This leads to some amount of humour, display of quick wittedness, imagination, working off your fellow actor… You can add rules, limitations and games to make it more fun.”

The Odissi exponent’s new work ‘Call of Dawn’ combines three musical pieces in raag Ahirbhairav
“I do not want to be clever. It will be very simple, just a perfect turn is sufficient,” says Odissi exponent Bijayini Satpathy, when asked about conceptualising and choreographing her latest solo work, ‘Call of Dawn’. “I am not resorting to the typical movements of Odissi. It has a rich vocabulary. I am allowing my body to flow with the music.”
