Tuesday was an emotional day for students and staff of Upper Sumas Elementary School, which finally reopened following the unprecedented floods that hit Abbotsford, B.C., late last year.

The school was hit hard by the November floods and Nooksack Valley Schools Superintendent Matt Galley says it's beyond repair.
Schools were scheduled to reopen Monday, but the threat of even more flooding kept them closed.
