The incident took place at IT City Industrial Area in Sector 83, Mohali, around 12:45 pm when several employees were working in the adjoining plot. As per information, a basement was being constructed for which the digging was done beyond permissible limits, triggering the collapse.
Those arrested have been identified as Amarjeet Singh, Sunil Giri, Simranjeet Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Sukhbir Singh. Their accomplices identified as Lucky, Billa Munshi, Sonu and Bhag Singh are said be on the run.
The victim was identified as Dwarka Prashad, 48, a resident of Sector 83-A. He belonged to Rampur district in Uttar Pradesh and worked as a watchman in Sector 82. The accused was identified as Phool Singh, also a native of Uttar Pradesh.
