ferry disaster in south korea. today, police arrested four more crew members, and the grim, desperate search continues for the 115 still missing and presumed dead. nearly all of them are high school students. nbc chief global correspondent bill neely is in jindo, south korea. bill, families seem to be growing more anxious by the hour. >> reporter: good afternoon, craig. real frustration here for the families of more than 100 missing students. searching here has been suspended all day. and with a storm approaching, it may stay suspended for some time. the police boats are returning empty. no bodies have been brought ashore for a day. they wait for 115 still missing. the rescuers withdrawn due to strong currents and high tides. the families fear their children will never be found. fishing nets have been strung under boats at the sunken ferry,
divers are getting a break in the recovery of bodies from a sunken ferry. the search was canceled today because of stormy weather. divers have talked about their grueling dark conditions and one says he is searching for survivors like he would his own children. cnn international correspondent nic robertson talked with one fisherman who still has nightmares from that day the ship sank. >> reporter: as desperate passengers are throwing themselves from the sinking ferry, a small blue boat rushes to the rescue. its captain runs forward to help. seconds later he is pulling people from the sea. >> this is you here? >> yeah. literally pulling people. >> there you are running forw d forward. >> reporter: they were screaming for help, he tells me. i can still hear their screams even today. he tells me he does. want to see it anymore.
we'll bring that up. they suspended the search efforts for sunken ferry in south korea. authorities say 187 bodies have been recovered so far. divers found the bodies of 48 school girls still wearing life vests in one of the ship's cabins. authorities say those vests made have made it more difficult for the girls to escape because of the way the ship listed and tilted and then how it positioned itself under water. right now 115 people remain missing. meantime prosecutors say all crew members involved in this disaster are now in custody. four more people were detained today. meaning that at least 15 crew members now have been arrested so far, that includes the ferry's captain. our nic robertson is live in south korea with search efforts there. as diverers go under water
