Albertville woman killed in early morning shooting


An Albertville woman is dead and a man is in custody after police responded early this morning to a reported shooting, according to Police Chief Jamie Smith.
Officers were dispatched at about 1 a.m. to the Mapco gas station at U.S. Highway 431 and Edmondson Street, where the caller was, and to Suntrace Apartments, where the shooting had occurred.
Officers were met at the Mapco by Tevin Hampton, 28. At the same time, officers checked the West Main Street address given by Hampton, and they found Amanda Jean Hood, 45, dead of multiple gunshot wounds.
Hampton was taken into custody without incident and interviewed at the Albertville Police Department, Smith said in a press release.

Albertville police have taken a man into custody in connection with an early morning fatal shooting at an apartment.
Officers were dispatched about 1 a.m. to Suntrace Apartments on West Main Street after a report of a shooting, phoned in from the Mapco Station on U.S. 431.
At the apartment complex, officers found Amanda Jean Hood, 45, dead of multiple gunshot wounds. They took into custody Tevin Hampton, 28, of the same address, at the Mapco Station.
In a statement, police said they believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic argument between the two, who had apparently been in a relationship for about two years.

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - A woman is dead and a man is in custody following an early Thursday morning shooting in Albertville.
Officers with the Albertville Police Department responded to the Mapco on Highway 431 at 1 a.m. Thursday where they met and questioned Tevin Hampton.
Officers then responded to Suntrace Apartments off West Main Street and discovered the body of Amanda Jean Hood. Investigators report Hood died of multiple gunshot wounds. Hampton was taken into custody and transported to Albertville City Jail.
