Even before the Jhulto Pul in Morbi crashed last year, Gujarat had seen some mishaps. In the last few months, however, construction or design faults linked to at least eight bridges some of them new or yet to be inaugurated were reported. Signaling the use of poor quality material and possible corruption, the incidents have dented the development model.
Just 40 days after its inauguration, cracks developed on Gujarat’s Ved-Variyav bridge on the Tapi river as some portion of the approach road compressed towards Variyav side on June 28.
The saffron organisation passed a resolution last week opposing the idea of same-sex marriage and criticised the Supreme Court for deciding something that it said was a "legislative function".
