SGA, Office of Sustainability host Earth Week fair, community clean-up


The University of Georgia Student Government Association and Office of Sustainability collaborated to host an Earth Day Fair this Wednesday on the Tate West Lawn with the goal of promoting ways for students to get involved in eco-friendly organizations both on campus and in the Athens-Clarke County community.
Multiple organizations participated in this event, including the Sustainability Certificate with the Office of Sustainability, Campus Kitchen, Concrete Jungle, the UGA Food Pantry, the SGA Professional Clothing Closet, UGArden, the Lunchbox Garden Project, University Union, Speak Out for Species and UGA Swap Shop.
The fair was held next to UGA’s Farm to Campus Market, which has visited every Wednesday in March and April in front of the Zell B. Miller Learning Center. ....

Green Living Seminar: Individual Behavior and Global Environmental Problems


NORTH ADAMS, Mass. Dr. Elizabeth R. DeSombre, Camilla Chandler Frost Professor of Environmental Studies at Wellesley College, will give a talk titled Individual Behavior and Global Environmental Problems as part of MCLA s Green Living Seminar Series at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. 
 
Green Living Seminar Series webinars are free and open to the public; community members can register for each lecture at mcla.edu/greenliving. All seminars take place weekly on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. through April 14. 
 
Dr. DeSombre s recent projects have involved the impact of flag-of-convenience shipping, the regulation of international fisheries, protection of the ozone layer, and global environmental institutions generally. Her recent books include Flagging Standards: Globalization and Environmental, Safety, and Labor Regulations at Sea (MIT Press, 2006), and Global Environmental Institutions (Routledge, 2006).
