Julie Neal Jones is a retired attorney and member of West End United Methodist Church in Nashville. The ever-changing developments regarding COVID-19 and its variants have prolonged my completion of this essay. There has never been a good stopping point, and I have been tempted more than once to give up. The reason I haven’t is that lives are at stake. I was not invited nor did I volunteer to undertake this task. Instead, I was conscripted by two news items I happened across before vaccines were available. Together they changed my outlook on COVID-19 and life in general.
