Wildfires burning in Arizona over Memorial Day weekend
Wildfires in Arizona continued to spring up throughout the map this week. The Spur Fire, which started on Thursday in Bagdad about two hours northwest of Phoenix, destroyed 13 homes and burned 150 acres, was 90% contained as of Sunday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management. The department then turned over fire operations back to the local district. The department also announced that the Courthouse Fire burning southwest of Tonopah had grown to the size of 700 acres and had knocked out power for 73 homes as of Sunday morning.
