Tainan mayor backs plan for comic book museum in the city

Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) on Thursday expressed support for a Ministry of Culture proposal to establish a comic book and animation museum in the city.
The proposal calls for the new museum which was originally planned for Taichung to be built in the Tainan Cultural and Creative Park.
Huang said that he strongly recommended that the ministry choose Tainan for the project, as the city “is rich in historical resources, and has well-developed cultural industries and an abundance of creative talent.”

In the Sinhua Hills (新化丘陵) of Tainan, farms, temples, narrow roads and stands of bamboo dot the landscape, making them virtually indistinguishable from other rural areas in southern Taiwan. There is one important difference, however: over the years, the environment here has alternated between ocean, brackish lagoon, freshwater, and dry land, leaving behind a rich variety and concentration of fossils. TRA offering 18 train services today, despite strike

The Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) yesterday confirmed that it is to offer 18 commuter train services today, even as most of its drivers go on strike.
Six of the commuter trains would be express services, while 12 would be standard, the TRA said.
The earliest available train is the No. 3007 express train from Changhua to Taitung departing at 6:08am, while the last is the No. 1253 standard train from Keelung to Hsinchu at 7:09pm, the TRA said.
