സെൽവമാരി ഏലത്തോട്ടത്തിൽ പണിക്കിടെ
കുമളി: പഠനം നിർത്തണം. കല്യാണം കഴിക്കണം. ഈ ഉപദേശങ്ങളൊന്നും സെൽവമാരി ചെവിക്കൊണ്ടില്ല. അവധിദിവസങ്ങളിൽ ഏലത്തോട്ടത്തിൽ പണിയെടുത്തും രാത്രി ഉറക്കമിളച്ചിരുന്ന് പഠിച്ചും അവൾ പോരാടി. ആ നിശ്ചയദാർഢ്യം ഇന്ന് ഈ ഇരുപത്തിയെട്ടുകാരിയെ വഞ്ചിവയൽ ഹൈസ്‌കൂൾ അധ്യാപികയാക്കി.
പതറിയിട്ടും പിൻമാറിയില്ല
ചെറുപ്രായത്തിൽ അച്ഛൻ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുപോയി. ചോറ്റുപാറയിലെ ആ രണ്ടുമുറി വീട്ടിൽനിന്ന് അങ്ങനെ സെൽവമാരി പോരാട്ടം തുടങ്ങി.
മൂന്ന് പെൺമക്കൾക്ക് അമ്മ സെൽവമായിരുന്നു എല്ലാം. ഏലമലക്കാടുകളിൽ പണിയെടുത്ത് അവർ കുടുംബം പോറ്റി. അമ്മ ഒറ്റയ്ക്ക് കഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നത് കണ്ടപ്പോൾ സെൽവമാരിക്ക് സഹിച്ചില്ല. അവധി ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ അമ്മയ്ക്കൊപ്പം പണിക്കിറങ്ങി. അപ്പോഴെല്ലാം പഠിച്ച് ഉദ്യോഗം നേടണമെന്ന ലക്ഷ്യം മനസ്സിൽ സൂക്ഷിച്ചു.
ചോറ്റുപാറ ജി.എൽ.പി. സ്‌കൂൾ, മുരിക്കടി സ്‌കൂൾ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ സ്‌കൂൾ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനുശേഷം തമിഴ്‌നാട്ടിൽ പ്ലസ്ടു പഠനം. ഉന്നതവിജയം നേടി. തുടർന്ന് തിരുവനന്തപുരം ഗവ. വിമൻസ് കോളേജിൽ ബിരുദപഠനം. ഗണിതമായിരുന്നു ഐശ്ചിക വിഷയം. തമിഴ് മീഡിയത്തിൽനിന്നുമെത്തിയതിനാൽ മലയാളം തീരെ വശമില്ലായിരുന്നു. ഇംഗ്ലീഷും അത്ര പോരാ.
ഒറ്റപ്പെടലുകൾ അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടുതുടങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ പഠനമുപേക്ഷിച്ചാലോ എന്നുവരെ ആലോചിച്ചു. ഏലമലക്കാട്ടിൽ കഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്ന അമ്മയുടെ മുഖമാണ് അപ്പോൾ ഓർമ വന്നത്. പഠനം തുടരാൻ ആ ഓർമ മാത്രം മതിയായിരുന്നു.
വിജയകിരീടങ്ങൾ
കഠിനമായി പ്രയത്നിച്ച് ഭാഷയുടെ പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ പരിഹരിച്ചു. ഡിഗ്രി നല്ല രീതിയിൽ പാസായി. യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി കോളേജിൽനിന്ന് എം.എസ്‌സി.യും നേടി.
കുമളിയിലെ എം.ജി. യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി സെന്ററിൽനിന്ന് ബി.എഡ്., തിരുവനന്തപുരം തൈക്കാട് ഗവ. കോളേജ് ഓഫ് ടീച്ചർ എജ്യുക്കേഷനിൽനിന്ന് എം.എഡ്., ഒന്നാം റാങ്കോടെ എം.ഫിൽ. എന്നിവ നേടി. നിലവിൽ ഇവിടെ പിഎച്ച്.ഡി. വിദ്യാർഥിനിയാണ്. കോളേജ് അധ്യാപക യോഗ്യതാ പരീക്ഷയായ നെറ്റും നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ഇനിയുമുണ്ട് സ്വപ്നങ്ങൾ
പി.എസ്.സി.യുടെ വനിതാ സിവിൽ പോലീസ് റാങ്ക് ലിസ്റ്റിലാണ് സെൽവമാരിയുടെ പേര് ആദ്യം വന്നത്. അതിനോട് താത്പര്യം കുറവായതിനാൽ 2017-ലാണ് ഹൈസ്‌കൂൾ അധ്യാപക തസ്തികയിലേക്ക് പി.എസ്.സി. പരീക്ഷ എഴുതിയത്. നിയമന ഉത്തരവ് 2020-ൽ ലഭിച്ചെങ്കിലും ഇക്കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസമാണ് ജോലിയിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കാനായത്. അധ്യാപനം ഇഷ്ടമാണെങ്കിലും ജീവിതത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ആഗ്രഹം സിവിൽ സർവീസ് ആണെന്ന് സെൽവമാരി എടുത്തുപറയുന്നു. പോരാട്ടം തുടരുമെന്ന് സാരം.
