Jodie Tan Li Juen, 11
Hobbies are fun activities that you do when you have free time. Some children enjoy collecting coins and stamps, while other kids may like outdoor activities like hiking, cycling and playing badminton or football.
Hobbies are enjoyable and fun because they can help you meet new people and experience new things. Here’s what Starchild readers had to say on the topic: Hobbies.
Jayden Tan Li Sheng, eight, writes: My hobbies are playing football and cycling. Both these activities can help my physical development. During my free time, I will cycle in the field near my house with my sisters. We enjoy cycling together.”

Starchild: Malaysian children are happy shoppers at the grocery store.

Jodie Tan Li Juen, 11
Raise your hands if you enjoy pushing the grocery cart in the supermarket. Shopping for food and drinks at the supermarket is fun because children can learn about different types of food they eat, from fruits and vegetables to biscuits and snacks. Children can also discover local exotic fruits such as the snake fruit or buah salak, breadfruit and cherimoya (buah nona).
The next time you follow Mummy to the supermarket, ask her to teach you how to read a label and compare items. And don’t forget to help Mummy list down the items to buy at the supermarket. This will help her save time and prevent her from forgetting important things she needs to get.

Starchild: Malaysian children share their Christmas wishes n their drawings

Yeoh Suet Ying, 6
Merry Christmas, children! Christmas is a special day to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. It is also a time of worship, family get-togethers, carolling and rejoicing.
During the Yuletide season, shopping malls are decorated with Christmas trees, giant gingerbread houses and colourful lights for that holiday feel.
However, due to the conditional movement control order because of the Covid-19 pandemic, celebrations have to be kept low key as everyone tries to stay safe. But it doesn’t mean we can’t have a jolly Christmas with our loved ones.
Let’s read what Starchild readers had to say on the topic, Merry Christmas.
