East London runners take on foul weather with bare feet and enthusiasm
The weather came with rain and gusting wind, but 1,000 doughty runners came with their A game — bare feet, takkies and shorts — to support the revived Spar and Daily Dispatch fun run and walk. Bringing sparkle to a gloomy, wet Esplanade on Sunday, the crowd went at the 8km and 4km races with gusto, many clearly excited that the pandemic-disrupted event, with its theme of supporting the disabled, was back on the calendar.
