BOKO Haram in Borno State on Monday pushed the military back for over 12 hours, destroying facilities in the Dikwa Local Government Area of the state.
Sources revealed that the terrorist group attacked the town around 6pm, pushing out the military and were in total control until Tuesday when the military reinforced and engaged them.
According to many sources, in the period the insurgents were in control, many buildings were torched and many humanitarian workers were abducted.
A source within the humanitarian community, while speaking with our correspondent, said, “There are serious safety concerns for tens of aid workers, including 20 in the humanitarian hub and others in NGO facilities across Dikwa LGA following repeated attacks by Boko Haram.” ....

The Nigerian Army has said troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have again successfully repelled an attack on Dikwa town by Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists.
It explained that the terrorists’ groups that stormed the town in gun trucks and motorcycles met with heavy and overwhelming fire by troops of 81 Task Force Battalion,112 Task Force Battalion Ajiri, and elements of 402 Special Forces Brigade with “maximum air support” by the Air Task Force Operation Lafiya Dole.
The NA spokesman, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Yerima, in a statement on Tuesday, titled, ‘Troops repel attempted infiltration of Dikwa town by Boko Haram terrorists,’ also said the insurgents suffered heavy casualties with their gun trucks and other equipment destroyed. ....

Military recaptures Marte after 20 hours onslaught

A security source told one of our correspondents that the military mobilised all its arsenal, including air support as well as troops from Dikwa and Monguno, to ensure that the town remained under the control of the Nigerian Army after about 20 hours of fighting with the isurgents.
“Our troops are currently in Marte town as we speak. We are in control of it”, he said.

Air support was said to have been sent to the ground troops, apparently as a result of the significant level of threat posed to civilian returnees as confirmed by a statement from an officer in the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Saturday at 3:34pm. ....

Musa said the air task force played a decisive role in the destruction of seven terrorists’ gun trucks during attempted attack on troops’ location in the area on Saturday.
He said the troops of Operation Tura Takaibango successfully laid an ambush against the terrorists when they attempted to attack troops’ location at the outskirts of Marte.
According to him, the Air Task Force played a commendable role in the destruction of seven terrorists’ gun trucks and decimation of unconfirmed number of the insurgents.
