Over 15,000 Indian tech workers have moved to Canada in the span of just 12 months, from April 2022 to March 2023, indicating that the country has emerged as a global magnet for tech industry talent, according to Khalsa Vox.
They were among the 32,115 workers who migrated to the country.
India accounted for the largest number of tech industry workers who migrated to Canada between April 2022 and March 2023, according to a report by The Technology Councils of North America and Canada's Tech Network. The report attributed this trend to Canada's immigration-friendly policies and cost advantage. The rise of remote work, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, has led to tech talent moving away from traditional tech hubs.
Out of more than 32,000 tech workers, 15,097 came from India, followed by 1,808 from Nigeria, partly due to Canada's immigration-friendly national policy and labor cost advantage.
