In the day they didn't have that volume and projection help because they had to hit the back row. as it has technology developments, we have a mic that sits here on our head or here so that's tricky, actually. i found that to be tricky for me because sometimes songs are written in a range that you can be in the studio with a mic really close and not have to project and get the nice intoment character in your voice and texture but broadway people want you to hit the back row. there is different styles of singing and i tried to encapsulate all of that and still keep an intimacy about my approach...
