Two operational hydropower projects totalling 1,710 MW and one under construction project of 500 MW have been affected in the Sikkim flash floods.
All units of NHPC Ltd's Teesta V power plant in Sikkim have been shut down due to flash floods in the Teesta River. Another under-construction project has also been affected. NHPC's Teesta VI project has not suffered major damage and the overall impact on the company's financials is minimal. A detailed assessment of losses and damages will be conducted once the water level recedes.
