Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs78.20 lakh on four cooperative banks citing violation of various rules and regulations. The four cooperative banks are from Meghalaya, Patna, Hyderabad and Rajkot in Gujarat). RBI has levied a fine of Rs60.20 lakh, the highest, on the Bihar State Cooperative Bank Ltd. Others penalised by RBI include Jowai Cooperative Urban Bank Ltd, The Cooperative Bank of Rajkot Ltd and Telangana State Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd.
