Astrophysicist and senior physicist for the telescope. dr. james rigsby. explain to us how to begin forming and what the image tells us about stars. this is the closest place in our own galaxy where stars are forming. that one in the bottom right is already formed, it is lit up and lighting up its own stellar nursery. like lighting up the room where it was born. we are learning from images like this how stars like our own son were formed. the photos we ve been getting from the telescope i ve just been incredible. walker s true why the telescope was able to get these pictures that we really haven t seen ....

Tell us about this last year. you say it has been performing fantastically. what are we learning new about space as a result of this telescope? great question. you can actually see in the top there these discs that are forming around the star. this is where we think planets are forming. part of the story is how farm stars form planets form and galaxies form. that is really the story of us and how we got here. we live on a planet, we live in a galaxy and we go around a star. it is a perspective that is sharper, clearer, that sees further back in time, it sees the parts of the universe that have been invisible to us because if you look with your eyes or with hubble at this guy, ....

Universe is and the star and planet formation. it has been a year of beautiful amazing pictures from the telescope and in the last year we ve gotten used to it. but it s also given us some reference point of time. so what are some of the most valuable things that we re learning from the first images that we saw, you know, a year ago, and along the way, to even this? yeah, i think people, as you said, people can get used to it. we should try not to get used to it. the james webb space telescope has been a miracle of science and engineering and we should understand what amazing things we can do when we all work together to get pictures like this. so we ve been able to see all the way back, almost to the birth of the universe, and we found that there s mysteries back there, there s things about our model of the big bang that don t work, which scientists love that. we found that we need to revise our models of how the universe was created. ....
