Abad Ponda, appearing for Khanchandani, told the court that police arrested him a day before his anticipatory bail application was to be heard by a sessions court. “The arrest is only to prevent him from arguing his case on Monday. The prosecution knew that a holiday court would not grant him bail and hence he was arrested on Sunday,” he said.
Khanchandani’s name cropped up during the investigation into distribution head Ghanshyam Singh’s role, officials said.
