Kalyan police book parents of newlyweds | Thane News

KALYAN: Police on Thursday booked the parents of a newly-wed couple after Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) officials lodged a complaint against them for violating the rule limiting the number of people at a wedding to 50. As per the complaint, around 700 people were present at the wedding held on Wednesday in Kalyan (east).
An FIR has been registered at Kolsewadi police station against the bride’s father, Rajesh Mahatre, a resident of Chinchpada area in Kalyan and the groom’s father, Mahesh Raut, who hails from Kasarvadavali in Thane.

KALYAN: Parents of a newly-wed couple on Thursday were booked by police in Kalyan after the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) lodged a complaint against them as Covid-19 norms were violated by more than 700 people during the wedding ceremony on Monday night.
The first information report (FIR) was registered in Kolsewadi police station under section 188, 269 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The parents who are booked in the case are identified as Rajesh Mahatre, resident of Chinchpada area in Kalyan and Mahesh Raut, who hails from the Kasarvadavali area in Thane.
As per the complaint, around 700 people participated in the wedding ceremony on Wednesday, violating the state government and KDMC’s order of 50 person limit in a wedding.

The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation has imposed fresh restriction in the twin city due to the rising number of coronavirus cases.
THANE: In the wake of rising cases of Covid-19 infection the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) on Wednesday announced stricter restriction in the twin city.
As per the orders issued by municipal commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi shops will be allowed to open for five days till 7pm from Thursday onwards. For Saturday and Sunday, shops will be allowed to do business on alternate day basis.
Kalyan-Dombivli, which is the second-worst hit city in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region after Mumbai, reported 392 new Covid-19 patients, taking its tally of patients 65,462, including 1208 deaths. The twin city now has 2,360 active patients.

THANE: A major fire broke out at a plastic factory in Vehloli Industrial Estate near Asangaon in Thane District on Tuesday morning.
The fire has now spread to entire unit and 12 fire engine are at the spot trying to control the blaze.

The fire broke out in SKY plastic factory at 5.30am. The fire official said around 500 to 600 workers, who were working inside, manage to escape before the fire spread to entire unit.

Two get Rs 8L compensation from Maharashtra Accident Claims Tribunal for 2009 chemical spill | Thane News

THANE: Two children who were seriously injured in a chemical spill 12 years ago were awarded a cumulative compensation of Rs 8.30 lakh by the Maharashtra Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT), an official said on Sunday.
On October 9, 2009, Pawan Kanojia, then 13, and Manish Mathur, nine at the time, were traveling in an MSRTC bus going from Thane to Bhayander when a chemical-laden tanker tried to overtake it, he said.
As the tanker swerved while overtaking, its lid opened and some portion of the chemical stored inside fell on Kanojia and Mathur who had window seats in the bus, causing both serious, permanent injuries.

Maharashtra: 2 get life imprisonment for kidnapping, killing youth | Thane News

THANE: Two persons were sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in Thane in Maharashtra for kidnapping and killing the 22-year-old son of a building contractor, an official said on Saturday.
In his order of March 3, the detailed copy of which was made available on Friday, Thane Additional Sessions Judge VY Jadhav held Kalpesh alias Chotu Ramnath Saroj (32) and Ravindra kumar Yadav (29) guilty under sections 302, 364A and 389 of IPC for murder, kidnapping for ransom, and extortion and sentenced them to life imprisonment on each count, which will run concurrently, an official said.
The judge also fined them Rs 60,000, he added.
