Think, do i really want this test if it is widely available. especially if there is nothing to do to stop it in the interim. let i let s talk about your new book the empowered patient. you wrote it in part because of a personal experience that you and your family went through, elizabeth. share that with us. that is right. a few years ago my mother was having health problems, and she was misdiagnosed and that is why i wrote this book. reporter: my mother, sheila schwartz, is a firecracker, mother of four and grandmother of 11 and lawyer and wife and active her whole life. but when she turned 60, something changed. she began to feel achey and dizzy and the blood pressure went up, and she said she was tired. the family doctor told her not to worry about it. they told you, look, lady, if you just stop working so hard, your blood pressure will come ....
god bless her. tell me why you decided to write this book, and you saw at least in part how your mom was misdiagnosed. that is right. what i saw is that sometimes we need to challenge our doctors and be bad patients. if my mother had said, this is not about me working too hard, this is about perhaps something different. i feel very strange, she would have probably gotten her doctor angry, but that is okay. i think that sometimes we are especially women are people-pleasers, and sometimes that not the right way to be and you have to challenge the doctor if they are telling you something that the gut says does not feel right, ask questions. and your cousin is a great man to go through this to in evident save your mom s life. yes, indeed a great man and shout out to colonel david cancer who donated his kidney, and he is her age, so they are incredible people. and the book is entitled the ....
