Michael Gira of Swans Orlando gig promoters the Modern Music Movement are teaming with outré cinema purveyors Uncomfortable Brunch for a one-night only screening of
Where Does a Body End? examines the fraught and fractious non-career of the trailblazing band of New York bludgeoners, spanning decades, stylistic shifts, discarded lineups and shattered eardrums. The film looks to have both Swans' mainman Michael Gira and former co-conspirator Jarboe on board — both pretty astonishing — as well as a who's who of peers and underground dwellers.
Speaking of underground dwellers, the screening will be paired with a live performance from a local with a similar taste for transgression and volume, Alien Witch.

Judas Priest Orlando, are you ready to rock? On a large, say, festival-size scale?
Look, the answer might be no, but while we dither about vaccination rates and the acceptable size of large gatherings, British metal icons Judas Priest are pushing forward with plans to hold the Warlando Festival — you guessed it — here in Orlando.
Set for Sept. 11 (
OK...) — in fairness, that's a good four months after President Biden's stated goal of May 1 to have every adult American eligible for vaccination — Warlando will bring not only the leather rebels, but also Sabaton, Lacuna Coil, Soulfly and Mushroomhead.

Michelle Beebs plays an Orlando homecoming show this weekend, with some all-star locals and a member of Fishbone in the mix

This show has been delayed until April 2 because of projected rain on Saturday.
Orlando's own Michelle Beebs (Beebs & Her Money Makers) is playing a pop-up homecoming show in downtown Orlando this weekend, and she's got quite the lineup of musical guests cooking — including members of Fishbone and some notable locals.
The one-night only affair will see Beebs taking the stage with a veritable
Last Waltz-sized cast of musical talent, including members of her band from Orlando, current California collaborators including the esteemed Norwood Fisher of alt-rock legends Fishbone, and a few local luminaries like Niko Is and Kaleigh Baker.
The show takes place on Saturday, March 6, at 7 p.m. at the Ace Cafe's outdoor Backyard at the Ace space. Tickets are still available online.

Jamey Johnson and Randy Houser This big country bill pairs true-blue neo-traditionalist
Jamey Johnson and certified country-pop hitmaker
Randy Houser, who is currently remaking himself into an artist of substance and keeping interesting stage company (he last came through Orlando in late 2019 with Paul Cauthen).
And their co-headlining
Cadillac Country Tour — which stops in Orlando on Thursday, Feb. 25, at the Dr. Phillips Center — features the two on stage together.

The Country Cadillac Tour Since the show will be acoustic and heavy on back-and-forth and conversation between the two longtime friends, expect these country songs to ring with an especially personal edge. The on-site bars better double up on the whiskey.

Photo courtesy Ricky Martin/Facebook Singer Ricky Martin has been named the national spokesperson for Orlando nonprofit the OnePulse Foundation.
In an announcement last week coinciding with the launch of their new OutLove Hate campaign — fundraising for the construction of a Pulse memorial and museum — OnePulse announced that Martin would be the new face of the organization on a national stage.
Martin will also film a series of PSAs for the organization.
“I’m excited to assist onePULSE Foundation with engagement and awareness-building opportunities as they build the National Pulse Memorial & Museum,” said Martin in a prepared statement. “The OUTLOVE HATE campaign is the perfect way to start our partnership."
