Situation in charleston and pointed out the situation with journalists in virginia recently. the theater massacre. all of these in a context and in a context of violence and a context of danger. and you heard her say it s not really clear why it s happening in many of the big cities from chicago to new york to baltimore. in some ways that s even more worrisome. but that s a bigger question because it involves race, gun violence and poverty. there are so many arms to this horrible octopus. but i do caution against making the equivalancy. the idea that in the attorney in texas after goforth was killed said every city has a few bad apples. this is not a bad apple. a bad apple, you called in sick and are on vacation. ....
By james holmes outweighs the heinous nature of the theater massacre just over three years ago. 12 people killed including a six-year-old girl, another 70 people injured. the jury decided once holmes is elgible for the death penalty but under colorado law they will have to do that two more times and be unanimous two more times for holmes to be sent to death row. jury heard from holz s parents that he had a normal, happy childhood. they also said they had no idea he was capable of violence or murder. they had the defense team blaming delusions that holmes had as he suffered from schizophrenia. the defense lawyers want the jury to have sympathy for holmes. the district attorney has kept the focus on all the victims. the following day the jury will hear from 15 of the family members of the 12 people that holmes killed three years ago. jon? jon: dan springer, in centennial, colorado. thank you dan. jenna: coming up the next hour ....
That s the police argument. the administration s concern, of course, is that this creates a very aggressive posture. it creates they argue, an escalation of certain situations particularly crowd control. the authorities, police counter they need this type of material armored vehicles, for example, in a hostage situation or in a situation to evacuate people from a dangerous situation. they talk about the boston bombing during the marathon. they talk about the theater massacre, school shootings, things of that nature. the debate goes back and forth. what the administration s trying to do is find a balance whereby the police can get the equipment that they need for safety, yet at the same time, establish a better relationship with the communities because the president s big concern is that there s a lack of trust between police and and so many communities across the country. jose? ron allen at the white house, thank you. next the new california landscape, multimillion dollar mansions ....
