The Supreme Court on Wednesday stayed the proceedings arising out of FIRs registered by the Tripura police against the HW News Network and its journalists -- Samriddhi Sakunia and Swarnja Jha -- over the reports on communal violence in the State.
The reporters were earlier accused of a criminal conspiracy, maligning the VHP and the BJP-led Tripura government.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice to Tripura government and police on a petition filed by three journalists of HW Network, against whom FIRs were lodged in connection with their news reports of the recent communal violence in the state.
Bench led by Justice D Y Chandrachud to hear plea on December 8, according to LiveLaw.
