Renovations on the 135.25km stretch of National Road 5 from Prek Kdam in Kandal province to Thlea Ma'am in Pursat province are 80 per cent complete, and expected to be finished at the end of next year, according to the public works ministry.
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport has signed contracts with CC1 and CIENCO6 road construction contractors to upgrade a stretch of National Road 5 running from Thlea Ma’am in Pursat province’s Krakor district to Banteay Meanchey province’s Sisophon and Poipet towns through Battambang province.
The newly upgraded 84.74km stretch of National Road 5 – from Battambang town north to Banteay Meanchey provincial capital Sisophon – will improve trade, tourism and investment between Cambodia and Thailand, according to Prime Minister Hun Sen.
