In January, the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners announced it allocated a total of $3,388,968 in economic relief funds to small businesses and non-profits affected by COVID-19 as part of the State of Minnesota County Relief Funding Program. According to a press release from Olmsted County, a total of 169 small businesses met the eligibility criteria and were chosen as grant recipients, and 34 non-profit organizations met the eligibility criteria and were chosen as grant recipients. Fiber artist Amarama Vercnocke is everywhere — their creations have popped up at art fairs over the past year, they used to help run Neon Green art studio in the Castle Community, and they’re one of the most outspoken promoters of visual arts in town.
