Some private tourism sectors call on the government to consider providing incentives and integrating specific tourism products into the national strategic plan for tourism development from 2023 to 2035. The proposal, which will be submitted to the Council of Ministers soon, aims to attract more tourists and boost the tourism industry.
The Ministry of Tourism is drafting the “Siem Reap Tourism Promotion and Attraction Strategic Plan 2023-2026”.
The finance and tourism ministries have announced the reinstatement of fees for the renewal of tourism licences – waived due to the Covid-19 pandemic – effective from January 1. The reinstatement was announced on January 2 based on an inter-ministerial prakas on the implementation of the basic policy for tourism, which expired on December 31 last year.
With support from the government, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Cambodia chapter will organise a “Temple Walk for Heritage” on December 3-4 at Preah Vihear Temple to promote tourism and environmentalism while giving a boost to the local economy.
