CRESTVIEW — With the goal of creating space for safe, affordable housing, city officials hope to soon see old, rickety houses in a high-crime part of town demolished and cleared away. CRESTVIEW — The Crestview Commons mixed-use development is expected to open in the spring of 2022. City Manager Tim Bolduc shared that information with the City Council on Monday while providing an update on the project. The Benchmark Group of Amherst, New York, is the developer of the estimated $14 million project. The company’s plans include the development of about 73,000 square feet of inline retail space plus two national sit-down restaurant chains northwest of State Road 85 (Ferdon Boulevard) and Interstate 10. Alcohol sales The council on Monday also approved the first reading of an ordinance that, with final approval, would revise the hours for when alcoholic beverages can be sold in Crestview. The city currently prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages from 4-7 a.m. Monday through Saturday and from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. Exceptions to the rule are any restaurants that regularly serve full meals from 10 a.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning.
