Stark County couple die of COVID-19 after 70 years of marriage

CANTON  On paper, and on internet graphs and maps, Pauline and Richard Payne were two of the seven COVID-19 deaths recorded in Stark County on Christmas and the day after. CANAL FULTON  The St. Helena III wants an operator. The replica of the historic canal freighter is looking for a captain, crew, staff and a few good draft horses to guide her up and down the Ohio and Erie Canal through the 2021 season. "It's more of a business approach," explained Mayor Joe Schultz. The city is accepting proposals from business owners interested in operating the boat for Canal Fulton next year. Guidelines are laid out in an eight-page document, written in a way that allows bidders to create their own business plan whether it be a lease or profit-sharing deal.
