The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has announced that the Monsanto Company, Solutia INC., and Pharmacia LLC will pay $100 million to resolve claims that the production of their products damaged Pennsylvania waterways and natural resources.
The administration receives funds after Monsanto, Solutia INC, and Pharmacia LLC. received claims of having PCBs in their water.
With a price tag of $40,000 for the Shaw’s Bridge Park ramp, $20,000 came from the state, with a match of $10,000 donated by the Brandywine Conservancy through the William Penn Foundation and $10,000 from a Natural Lands PECO grant.
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission announced Friday that the refilling process is underway, with complete refill expected in about two weeks.
