(WLNE) – It’s maple sugaring season in southern New England, but it may not be the best year for maple syrup crops.  Kim Calcagno with the Audubon Society of Rhode Island has been teaching the public about maple sugaring for years. Storm Will Bring a Wet, Windy Christmas to the SouthCoast It’s safe to say nobody was dreaming of a wet and windy Christmas, but it appears that will be the case for the SouthCoast. Doctor Ian Dell’Antonio is a professor in the physics department at Brown University.  He says, “I’ve never unambiguously seen the aurora from Rhode Island in 20 years.” It’s rare for the lights to be visible this far south, but it can happen in particularly strong solar storms.
