Too much onus on this algorithmic and program trading. the only real side i saw is when the the dow went down 1,600 flirted by high frequency trading. the rest of the times the moves that some volatile and radical are people selling stock actively, taking profits and guys trying to pick bottoms. technical trading. i don t see this. there are algorithms that run, people try to catch up. time algorithms, volume algorithms and whatnot. the way the market is trading like this with huge swoops up and down, i believe this is real people buying and selling stocks. neil: i hope you re right, peter. but i really was likening it to some of these vehicles that you can use to offset the six like the short vix, short term ....
