SEC invokes plenary powers, orders removal of nine 'tainted' officers in AP

The SEC said that continuance of such poll-tainted officers in the posts would send a wrong signal to the public
 State Election Commissioner N. Ramesh Kumar issued instructions here on Friday for removal of these officers so as to conduct polls in a free and fair manner.
Vijayawada: The State Election Commission has invoked its plenary powers under Article 243 (K) read with Article 324 to remove nine ‘tainted’ officers who had ‘failed’ to prevent aberrations in the form of election-related incidents or poll-related violence.
State Election Commissioner N. Ramesh Kumar issued instructions here on Friday for removal of these officers so as to conduct polls in a free and fair manner. SEC said he acted as the state government did not respond to his repeated requests to remove the tainted officers.

Constables posted under non-local category have reiterated their appeal to the state government to post them in their native districts so as to get closer to their families.
Around 1000 constables were selected in the recruitment process conducted in 2008 and nearly 200 of them hailing from Uttarandhra region got posting in Tirupati Urban, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool, Nellore, Prakasam other districts. However, it started becoming difficult for them to travel to their native place to take care of their families. “It takes two days to reach our village in the other corner of the state and our casual leaves for fifteen days get exhausted in no time. For the last eleven years, we were unable to visit our aged parents and take care of our kin for this reason”, rues a constable Ch. Satya Raju.

Constables posted in the non-local category have reiterated their appeal to the State government to post them in their native districts so that they could stay closer to their families.
Around 1,000 constables were selected in the recruitment process conducted in 2008 and nearly 200 of them hailing from Uttarandhra region got posting in Tirupati Urban, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool, Nellore, Prakasam other districts.
“It is difficult for us to travel to our native places and look after our families. It takes two days to reach my village which is in the other corner of the State and our casual leaves of 15 days get exhausted in no time. For the last eleven years, we have been facing difficulties to visit our aged parents and take care of our kin for this reason,” rues constable Ch. Satya Raju.

Police register case, launch search for the accused
A woman lodged a police complaint accusing her husband of posting her obscene photographs on the social media platform, branding her as an escort.
The case came to light on Wednesday after the Tirupati Urban district police registered a case against the husband, identified by Revanth, a junior assistant working in a TTD-run educational institution. The woman, after lodging a complaint, staged protest at the police station demanding immediate action. The police have launched a manhunt for Revanth who is on the run.

 The government has decided to waive fixed power charges of theaters for three months (April, May, and June).
VIJAYAWADA:  A meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has approved a package for restarting the film industry.
Disclosing details about cabinet decisions, information minister Perni Venkataramaiah alias Nani said many theaters closed in March are yet to reopen. Hence, the government has decided to waive fixed power charges of theaters for three months (April, May, and June). Further, payments for six months have been postponed for multiplexes and other theaters. This would benefit 1,100 theaters across the state.
