Online fraudsters hatch new ways | Vadodara News

Vadodara: If you get a call from an unidentified person identifying himself as an army man or a cop wanting to rent your house, then beware. He may be a fraudster trying to dupe you of your hard earned money by promising to pay the rent if you scan a QR code sent by him. For a couple of years the Mewati gang that specialises in this fraud has become active in Gujarat and begun targeting unsuspecting citizens.
In a bid to tackle such cyber frauds, the police department has formed three different teams under the cybercrime police. “We get several complaints of online frauds so I have formed three different teams to focus on different crimes. One team focuses on social media frauds wherein conmen make fake profiles and siphon-off money from people,” said Shamsher Singh, city police commissioner.

Godhra civic chief's election a close affair | Vadodara News

BJP are claiming that they are sure of getting the majority
Vadodara: It seems that Wednesday’s contest for the president’s post of the Godhra municipality will go down to the wire. In the past, winning independent candidates used to side with the BJP after elections. But this time around, the pre and post-poll scenario has made things difficult for such candidates, who win in most of the seats.
The election of the municipality president in Godhra has always been a dramatic affair. The BJP has usually managed to reach close to the half waymark on itself, but has needed support from independents. A majority of candidates who win in the 44-member municipality are independents and most of them belong to the minority community.

'NDDB app to bring in transparency' | Vadodara News

Vadodara/ Anand: Dairy Surveyor — a GIS-enabled android application developed by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) will provide a robust locational database that can be used by policy makers to formulate or review effective policies and programmes related to the dairy sector.
This is what Varsha Joshi, joint secretary (cattle and dairy development), department of animal husbandry and dairying (Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying) of government of India and interim chairman of NDDB said.
Joshi was delivering the keynote address at NDDB’s webinar on ‘Dairy Surveyor — taking technology to the dairy network’ on Monday.
The app can capture ‘real-time’ information to strengthen decision-making.
