Welk has served with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office for 24 years, starting as a dispatcher. In 2004 he became a deputy and was later promoted to sergeant. In 2019 he was promoted to lieutenant and since November of 2021 has served as chief deputy, the sheriff’s office second in command.
