Letter: States comparison misleading Based on the figures presented, I calculate 2,000 more deaths occurred in Florida then in California, not the 4,000 number which was specified by Mr. Elias in his column. Furthermore, Florida has a much larger at-risk elderly population on a percentage basis then California, by about 40%.
