>> janice: i know. it's going to be tough. they have canceled a lot of flights, steve. let's take a look at the maps. tornado warn storms. warm part of the system moving across the mississippi river valley where we have several tornado warnings for arkansas over towards mississippi and then we have severe thunderstorm warnings in effect. that's going to be potentially an issue throughout the afternoon as well as we go through louisiana and arkansas and mississippi over the tennessee river valley and then up towards the southeast. that's the tornado risk. then the cold side of this storm is bringing a blizzard for our friends in iowa right now. and nebraska up towards green bay where you see the orange blizzard warnings and winter storm warnings for millions of folks upwards of 12 to 18 inches of snow then cold air behind it is going to break some records. forecast lows for saturday, sunday. watch how far the cold moves southward so parts of texas in towards arkansas. mississippi river valley. we actually might see some snow in the south on monday.

amounts? does the fast motion of the storm help you out a bit for that? >> believe it or not, we're actually hoping for rain here. it's been fairly dry the last several weeks. and the forecast in the eastern counties around jacksonville is about 2-4" which would be just fine. it's under what we would be concerned about for significant flooding here. west of jacksonville, we could see 3-8" of rain. here the rainfall probably won't be to the extent we're too concerned about fresh water flooding here. >> jane: you talk about the flood potential but also getting back to the tornado risk, because i do think that's going to be a big concern as the night and even as the day goes on tomorrow that has storm really starts to interact with the friction of land. what do you say to the people in jacksonville and the surrounding counties getting to safety especially when the storm comes in? now you're talking potential for flat waters, too? -- floodwaters, too? >> we have to pay very close

there's a couple reasons for. that's where the winds are moving the fast, and when you see that and makes the impact with that, that's when you get that spin. so that tornado risk is going to move north. right now i mention the tornado watches through portions of of florida. we're going to see that extend. later on tonight feeling those impacts in portions of of the carolinas and before tomorrow morning we have a cold front going to sweep it through off the coast tomorrow but looking at dangerous conditions tomorrow. that's one player out there. we're also looking at an active tropics here. this tells you we're right for development. we're in the gulf right now in terms of idelia but looking at franklin. these two could interact a bit. as we go throughout time here looking at really gusty winds west of bermuda. francis? >> michelle, that is so tough

it has been for the last couple of days almost perfect. in where we thought it was going to make landfall along the big bend of florida. then we also have a trough that's going to interact with this storm. going to move very quickly up towards south georgia. south carolina, as a category 2 hurricane. so they have to be making their preparations now for a category 2 hurricane. heavy rainfall in the forecast, certainly 5 to 8 inches. the storm surge, the biggest storm surge impacts right now for the big bend of florida but that water is going to move well inland. you know, gainesville, where we have one of our reporters, we are seeing surge into tampa bay. so widespread impacts and then we also have the tornado risk, which is the potential for these rotating, you know, storms, tornadoes that form because of the counterclockwise motion and interaction with land. that tornado watch is good until this afternoon moving in towards georgia and the carolinas.
