Mayor Mike Absher said at Monday night's city council meeting that the city will hold a memorial starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center, with a display of photos from the disaster.
Executive Director Carlee Fiddes said the animals the shelter takes in get to walk back out again, no matter how long it takes.
Many events are planned in the area for Memorial Day weekend.
