So yeah. there could be any number of things to initiate a situation like this where you restrict airspace. most people would be familiar around on 9/11, they would have at least noticed the restrictions on the east coast during that period. what happens is the faa in conjunction with norcom restrict airspace with military operations going on. there could be train exercises. some preplanned that would necessitate the closing of airspace. an anomaly like the purportedly over montana to trigger this action. these are the kind of things that could happen. it is not completely abnormal to have restrictions to airspace. ....
