Delhi govt requests Railways to deploy Covid-care coaches at two stations

The Delhi government has urged the railways to arrange up to 5,000 beds by deploying COVID-care coaches at the Shakur Basti and the Anand Vihar stations in view of the rising number of coronavirus cases in the national capital.
In a letter to Railway Board chairman Suneet Sharma, Delhi Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Dev said there has been a tremendous increase of COVID-19 cases in Delhi in the recent past, resulting in high number of serious cases requiring treatment in hospitals.
In the GNCTD, as of now, the facilities at government and private hospitals available are getting strained and there is an urgent need for more number of COVID bed facilities to cope up with the ever increasing demand of COVID-19 patients who require admissions in hospitals," he said.

IGL jumps after long-term gas supply deal with DTC

Indraprastha Gas (IGL) advanced 3.01% to Rs 526.20 after the company signed an agreement with Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) for long term supply of compressed natural gas (CNG).
The CNG distribution company signed a long-term gas supply agreement with DTC to supply CNG for a period of ten years till December 2030.
DTC is the largest CNG-powered bus service operator in the world with a fleet size of 3762 buses at present and is also in the process for procurement of 1000 new CNG buses which would shortly be plying on the roads of the national capital.
It consumes around 2.80 lakhs kgs of CNG per day for its buses which constitutes around 11% of daily CNG sale of IGL. The consumption of CNG is expected to increase further after the addition of new buses.

BJP alleges bus deal scam by Delhi govt; minister says Rs 225 cr saved

The opposition BJP on Thursday alleged irregularities in procurement of buses by the Delhi government, evoking sharp reaction from Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot who said Rs 225 crore was saved while procuring 1,000 low-floor CNG buses for the Delhi Transport Corporation.
Speaking in the Delhi Assembly, the minister asserted that the city government will procure more buses and challenged the BJP to stop it.
Delhi BJP MLA Vijender Gupta alleged a "scam" in the procurement of buses and listed various objections regarding tenders and annual maintenance provisions.
"The tenders for 1,000 buses and their annual maintenance were floated separately. The cost of annual maintenance comes out to be more than the actual cost of the buses," he said in the Assembly.
