Rescue efforts for 41 trapped workers in the Silkyara tunnel progressed as the steel obstruction hindering pipe movement was cleared. Bhaskar Khulbe, overseeing the operation, reported the removal, aiming to advance 6 meters beyond the 45-meter mark. Welding experts arrived for the rescue, welding mild steel pipes for the trapped workers to crawl through. With CM Pushkar Singh Dhami present, the state officials anticipate the final stage of the rescue today in Uttarkashi.
Rescue operations to evacuate 41 workers trapped in the tunnel resumed on Thursday morning after an iron mesh that had come in the path of the auger machine drilling an escape path was removed. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Director General Atul Karwal, who was present at the site, said the force is fully ready for the evacuation.
