A Bench of Chief Justice of India Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narsimha gave the tree authority the liberty to take an appropriate decision on MMRCL's application by imposing suitable conditions.
The Supreme Court allows Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRCL) to pursue its application before the Tree Authority to cut 84 trees at Aarey forest for the metro car shed project, on Tuesday.
The Court said that the tree authority of the BMC will be at liberty to take an independent decision on the felling of trees in Aarey, and impose conditions as deemed fit.
