Concord Select Board OKs sustainable fleet policy adoption

During its Dec. 14 virtual meeting, the Concord Select Board voted to approve an updated policy to govern the replacement and purchase of all non-exempt municipal vehicles with the most sustainable vehicle option.
The update replaces APP #63, “Fuel Efficient Vehicle Policy,” which was adopted in October of 2013.
The update states all Town departments will minimize greenhouse gas emissions from town operations by: 
Purchase or leasing exclusively battery electric vehicles for all light‐duty passenger fleet replacements by FY22; 
Piloting, evaluating, and, where feasible, acquiring electric vehicles for medium‐ and heavy‐duty vehicle and equipment categories; 
Minimizing vehicle miles travelled and minimizing idling.  Director of Sustainability Kate Hanley presented the amendment to the Board. ....
