Joe Lamoree (1926-2020) Joseph Robert Lamoree, 94, of Beacon, died Dec. 17 at his home, surrounded by family members. Born in Beacon on June 7, 1926, he was the son of Robert and Margaret (Evans) Lamoree. After graduating from Beacon High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served for two years during World War II. For 36 years, he served as an officer for the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, retiring in 1986. Lake to open cold weather shelters through Saturday Staff Report TAVARES — With temperatures expected to drop Thursday night, Lake County will activate its cold weather shelters through Saturday night. The shelters will be available for anyone who would otherwise be vulnerable to the incoming cold weather, which is expected to reach the low 30s on Friday and Saturday nights.
